Our Projects for 2019

DLPPA distributes flyers door-to-door every summer to promote our association, raise awareness of our mission, alert people to the risks that our pond faces, and to canvas new members.  Our meetings are posted on the Danville Town calendar, and are usually the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

Project 1. Milfoil Mitigation & Management

This is an ongoing battle for DLPPA, the State, and the local community.  Long Pond needs to be treated at least once every 2 years, but this is an annual effort even when milfoil levels are minimal.

Project 2. Weed Watcher and Water Testing

DLPPA has established a program to identify volunteers to help monitor the weeds and other risks to our pond.  Please contact one of the board members if you are interested in helping with this project.  We also conduct periodic water testing, and evaluate the potential sources of elevated phosphorus levels.

Project 3. Control Pollution & Phosphorus Levels

DLPPA performs regular water testing for the primary inlets into Long Pond.  We work with the State to perform "bracketing" which allows us to determine the most likely sources of pollution and excessive nutrients.  Contact one of the board members if you'd like additional information.
